This is an opportunity for your child to read a book to you. They can choose to read their book bag book that they will have from school. You can also visit the oxford owl website and choose a book of the same level for them to read to you.

Please ensure that you spend time talking about the words/vocabulary at the beginning of the book before you start and that you talk about the questions at the end of the book as well.

Use the following link:

Watch the video closely and listen to what you are asked to do. The sounds will be pronounced for you the first you see them (listen to how to say each one) and then you will have the opportunity to say them yourself the second time through.

Complete this for Set 1, 2 and 3 sounds.

Repeat and watch the video a second time to practise any sounds you found tricky.

Spellings – sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty

These are just some of the words that we need to practise and know how to spell by the end of our time in year 1. Take one word at a time and show children what the word looks like written down before they have a go at writing it. Talk about the pattern of letters or the sounds you can hear in that word. Cover the word up and ask the children to try and remember how it is spelt.

Repeat with all the other words. Practise any of the words they found tricky again.

Extension: try to put each of the words into a short sentence.

You will need the ‘finding change from 10p and 20p’ worksheet.

Today we are going to be looking at how we can work out what change you would get when you have paid for items in a shop. In order to do this we will need to use our subtraction skills to help find the answers.

On the sheet provided we are going to be finding change from both 10p and 20p. The cost of the item is displayed on the price tag and the coin you used to pay with is then alongside this (either 10p or 20p). To find the answer you must subtract the cost of the item from either the 10p or the 20p.

For example:

If the item cost 4p and you paid with a 10p coin you would record:

                10p – 4p = 6p

Part 1: feelings during lockdown.

Firstly we would like you to draw a picture of yourself. Then around the picture of you record some words to show how you have felt at different times during this lockdown while you have not been in school. Discuss with an adult what is was that made you feel this way at those points.

Part 2: returning to school. Please write us a sentence to explain how you are feeling about coming back to school on Monday. Are you happy/sad/excited/worried etc? Try to explain in your sentence why it is you are feeling that way.

I am feeling excited because….

I am feeling worried because…

Part 3: Happiness thoughts! Please think about 3 things that have made you happy during this time off school. It might be linked to some of the work you have done, to the time you have spent with your family or any other moments that have made you happy. Record these ideas as sentences for us.
