Monday

RWI

You will need the ‘air’ and ‘are’ writing sheet.

Our sounds for this week are ‘air’ and ‘are’. Before you complete the activity, say the sounds first, look at the pictures in each box and then write the words that match each picture by sounding them out each time. Once you have completed the first part of the activity, you will then need to choose 4 of the objects and put the words into an interesting sentence.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

READING

Share a book of your choosing with an adult. Spend 20 minutes reading and discussing what you have read.

ENGLISH

Handwriting

Today in our handwriting we are going to look at writing some of our key Year 1 words. Again remember to focus on those letters are taller than the others and make sure these letters touch the line above. Also this week, ensure the ‘p’ sits on the line correctly with its tail underneath the line.

Find the example sheet that we have written out for you and copy the words underneath where we have done them.

Words we are practising: pull, push, put, love, friend

MATHS

You will need the + and – calculation sheet from the website and a pencil today. Don’t worry if you can’t print the sheet, you can copy one calculation at a time and answer it just as you would from the white board at school.

The sheet is split into 3 sections this week. Answer all the calculations in Section 1. If you manage to complete all of these then move on to section 2 and 3 as well. Remember to think carefully about the different strategies we have been using in school. Counting on/back from the largest number.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using you class email address.

TOPIC

You will need the ‘Monkey King’ lesson powerpoint and the ‘Monkey King – message of the story’ worksheet.

We are going to be looking at our Faith for this half term which is Buddhism and learn about a story linked to this faith – The Monkey King.

With an adult, work through the story on the powerpoint. Listen carefully to the message it is giving.

On the worksheet provided, write down the message you believed the story was trying to give. Then draw your favourite part of the story and tell us why you like that part.
