Monday

Maths

You will need the + and – calculation sheet from the website and a pencil today.  Don’t worry if you can’t print the sheet, you can copy one calculation at a time and answer it just as you would from the white board at school.

Answer as many of these calculations as you can.  Remember to think carefully about the different strategies that we have been using in school.  Counting on/back from the largest number, counting in steps of 10, using partition and recombine.  Please refer to the maths calculation strategy handout that was shared with all parents/carers at the start of the year. For the adding and subtracting of two 2-digit numbers you can also make use of the supporting videos located in the remote learning tab for year two under maths support.

For Fridays maths lesson you will need to collect your mini-assessment booklet from school.  You could build this into your daily walk one day this week. They will be in the year 2 box by the front door.

Open the PowerPoint named ‘Week 6 Spring poems’. You will need this PowerPoint for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Today, you will be learning to read and recite a poem. There are lots of options for you to choose from, on pages 6-11 of the PPT. Your activity today will be to learn one of these poems off by heart and read it in a poetry performance voice. This means changing your voice during certain parts of the poem, eg whispering, shouting, reading slowly or quietly.

We would like you to practice your set 1, 2 and 3 sounds using the following link:

Choose 5 set sounds and write 5 words that use the sound. You should write 25 words in total.

Read independently for 20 minutes. This can either be a school book or a chosen book from home. When you have finished, share with an adult what you have read.

You will need the plain paper and a pencil/colouring pencils.

Today we would like you to create an ‘All about me’ piece of art. This art will be an outline of you drawn on a plain piece of paper and you will fill this with all the things that you love. For example, if you love pepperoni pizza or playing football, you will fill the outline with these images.
