RWI

You will need the ‘or’ and ‘aw’ writing sheet.

Our sounds for today are ‘or’ and ‘aw’. Before you complete the activity, say the sounds first, look at the pictures in each box and then write the words that match each picture by sounding them out each time. Once you have completed the first part of the activity, you will then need to choose 4 of the objects and put the words into an interesting sentence.

READING

Share a book of your choosing with an adult. Spend 20 minutes reading and discussing what you have read.

ENGLISH

Handwriting

Today in our handwriting we are going to look at writing some key words that we use in Year 1. Again remember to focus on those letters are taller than the others and make sure these letters touch the line above, including those letters that are our capital letters.

Find the example sheet that we have written out for you and copy the words underneath where we have done them.

Words we are practising: yesterday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

MATHS

You will need the + and – calculation sheet from the website and a pencil today. Don’t worry if you can’t print the sheet, you can copy one calculation at a time and answer it just as you would from the white board at school.

The sheet is split into 3 sections this week. Answer all the calculations in Section 1. If you manage to complete all of these then move on to section 2 and 3 as well. Remember to think carefully about the different strategies we have been using in school. Counting on/back from the largest number.

TOPIC

You will need the ‘Identifying herbivores, carnivores and omnivores’ powerpoint and the ‘sorting activity – herbivores, carnivores and omnivores’ sheet.

We are going to be looking at different animals today and what they eat. Animals can be classified as either a herbivore, a carnivore or an omnivore depending on what they eat. Work through the powerpoint with an adult to find out what things each of them might eat. Complete the true and false quiz in the powerpoint.

Complete the sorting activity by cutting out each of the animal cards. Read what the animal eats before deciding whether they are a herbivore, carnivore or omnivore. Place the animal card in the correct circle on the Venn diagram.
