School closure - 3rd December

Hello Year 2!

We are so sorry that you are having to work from home today, we just want everyone to be safe.

We have put together some activities for you to do whilst you are at home that link to the work we have been dong in school.

We have been looking at shapes over the last week in Year 2.

Have a look at the activities we have set for you on Education City and try to complete each one. (your login details should be in your blue communication books)

Activity 1 - Shape Escape (2D shapes)

Activity 2 - On the face of it (2D shapes on the surface of 3D shapes)

Activity 3 - Spinning shapes (3D shapes)

You can also access the MyMaths website and explore any of the activities in either Year 1 or Year 2 in the following subject areas:

  • Number and Place Value
  • Addition and Subtraction
  • Multiplication and Division

We are still learning how to spell our key words for Year 2. Please practise spelling each of the words for this half term and then try putting them each into a sentence.

Words: most, only, both, old, cold, gold, hold, told, every, break, great, steak, Christmas

Animal riddle

We have been looking at animals and their habitats in both our topic and English work. We would like you to create a riddle about an animal of your choice. Remember to include expanded noun phrases in your sentences where you can.

We have written a riddle for you. Can you guess what animal we are describing?

I have large eyes that pop out on the top of my head.

I have two, long legs that help me hop around.

I can swim in the water but also like to hop on the green lilypads.

Sometimes you find me in the trees of the hot rainforest.

My body is often green and cold.

What am I?

Topic - Faith Day

Today was due to be one of our faith days where we would have been looking at the Christian faith and exploring some of the beliefs and values associated with this faith.

As part of your work at home we would like you to have a look through the powerpoint on Christian symbols and learn what some of the symbols mean and represent.

Once you have done this, we would like you to create a new symbol of your own that represents you and who you are. Think carefully about the type of person you are and what things you like.
