Part 1 - Spellings: For today’s activity, we will be looking at the sound ‘oi’ that we started looking at yesterday. Watch the video that talks you through the spellings section of this lesson. Join in with the ‘My turn, your turn’ parts of the video and have a go at spelling each of the words asked of you.

Part 2 – Dictation: Once you have got your list of words, ask an adult to read out the following sentences for you to have a go at writing yourself.

I put some coins deep in the soil.

I went to boil the oil in foil.

We would like you to watch a story of your choosing today – there are some available on our website on the ‘Listen to a story’ page (several teachers have recorded stories for you to watch). Or you can find many versions of traditional tales and other stories on youtube.

Once you have finished watching talk to someone at home about the story. Can you tell them what the story was called? Can you tell them the author of the story? Can you tell them at least three things that happened in the story? Can you tell them your favourite part of the story?

ENGLISH

You will need the ‘Zog school report card’ sheet.

Listen to Miss Geyton as she reads the story ‘Zog’ by Julia Donaldson. While you are listening try to remember what Zog and the other dragons have to learn each year at school. Think about how Zog does with each of these tasks.

On the school report card sheet, we would like you to choose three of the school years that Zog had to complete. We would like you to then write the task the dragons had to do and what happened to Zog during the task.

Add a picture to show what happened in the years you chose.

MATHS

You will need the 2, 5 and 10 times table calculation check sheet. Don’t worry if you can’t print the sheet, you can copy one calculation at a time and answer it just as you would from the white board at school.

Try to think about all that we have looked at with multiplication over the last couple of weeks and answer as many of the calculations as you can. Remember how we count up in steps of 2, 5 or 10 to help you find the answers.

Try to complete this task as independently as you can.

TOPIC

You will need a piece of paper and a pen/pencil.

Use the youtube links provided for instructions on how to draw a dragon. We have given you two links to slightly different dragons. Choose the one you like most or even have a go at both! Pause the video each time it asks you to draw a section of the dragon to give yourself time to complete the step accurately. Colour and decorate your dragon once you have finished.
