Part 1 - Spellings: For today’s activity, we will be looking at the sound ‘ew’ that we started looking at yesterday. Watch the video that talks you through the spellings section of this lesson. Join in with the ‘My turn, your turn’ parts of the video and have a go at spelling each of the words asked of you.

Part 2 – Dictation: Once you have got your list of words, ask an adult to read out the following sentences for you to have a go at writing yourself.

The crew had to chew on the stew

I threw a few screws on the floor.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

We would like you to watch a story of your choosing today – there are some available on our website on the ‘Listen to a story’ page (several teachers have recorded stories for you to watch). Or you can find many versions of traditional tales and other stories on youtube.

Once you have finished watching talk to someone at home about the story. Can you tell them what the story was called? Can you tell them the author of the story? Can you tell them at least three things that happened in the story? Can you tell them your favourite part of the story?

You will need the ‘castle sentences’ worksheet

Look closely at the picture of the castle we have provided for you. Think about all the work we have done on castles over the last few weeks and try to create some sentences to describe this castle. The sentences could describe what the castle looks like and the different parts it has. The sentences could also describe the kinds of people that might live in a castle and the things that might happen there.

Please don’t forget to use your capital letters and full stops for each sentence that you write.

Try to write your sentences as independently as possible.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

You will need a tablet, computer, laptop or phone for today’s work.

Your child has a division lesson assigned on MyMaths for today.  Use the school login details and then sign into their own portal. The lesson is Yr1 Introduction to division.  Work through the lesson with your child and then encourage them to complete the online homework independently.  Remember we are assessing their maths skill so you may support them with the reading of instructions if necessary.

There is no work to email in today for maths as your teacher will be able to see your online homework.

Geography – Maps and coordinates

You will need the maps and coordinates video and the maps and coordinates worksheet.

Watch the video from Miss Geyton on how to create our own maps. Listen as she explains how the coordinate grids work and what you will need to do to complete your own map and key.

On the worksheet provided complete your own map design. Add each of the items from the key onto your map and ensure to correctly identify and record the grid coordinate for each one.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.
