READING

You will need the ‘Fish who could wish’ story video and the ‘fish who could wish’ question sheet.

Today is World Book Day. For much of our work today, we are going to base it around the story of ‘The fish who could wish’ by John Bush.

Listen to the story of ‘The fish who could wish’ read by Miss Geyton. Once you have finished listening to the story, try answering the questions about what you have heard.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

ENGLISH

You will need the ‘My wishes’ worksheet.

The fish in the story got to have lots of wishes and used them to wish for some wonderful things including a car, a horse and a Spanish guitar.

If you were given three wishes, what would you wish for? On the sheet provided, please write a sentence to tell us about each of the three things you would wish for. Start your sentences with I would wish for…

Extend your ideas by explaining why you chose to wish for each thing.

Draw a picture of each thing you would wish for as well.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

READING

As it is World Book Day, the teachers in Year 1 have recorded and sent you some story videos today. Please take some time at different points throughout the day to watch them. I wonder which story you liked best?

These can be found on the Year 1 page for this week under the World Book Day stories tab.

MATHS

You will need the ‘adding and paying with coins’ sheet.

Following on from the work we did yesterday, we are going to continue with some work on adding together the price of two objects. This time the items are priced for you and have been put into an addition number sentence for you to help find the total.

Once you have worked out how much the two items will cost altogether, we would like you to colour in the coins you would need to use if you wanted to pay for these items.

For example if the items cost 12p you might colour in a 10p and a 2p to make 12p altogether.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

TOPIC

You will need the ‘fish who could wish art’ sheet.

We have been looking at the fish who could wish book today and would love to create a display in school around this book with an array of creative and colourful fish.

Please use the fish who could wish art sheet and decorate the fish in whichever way you would like. Maybe a mosaic style pattern or some glitter and sparkle on parts of the fish? The design is completely up to you!

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address. As we would like to create the display with your fish, please bring your fish back with you when you return on Monday.
