Part 1 - Spellings: For today’s activity, we will be looking at the sound ‘air’ that we started looking at yesterday. Watch the video that talks you through the spellings section of this lesson. Join in with the ‘My turn, your turn’ parts of the video and have a go at spelling each of the words asked of you.

Part 2 – Dictation: Once you have got your list of words, ask an adult to read out the following sentences for you to have a go at writing yourself.

The fairy in the air had long hair.

A pair of chairs fell down the stairs.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

READING

Today we would like you to take a book of your choosing and sit quietly and read it on your own for 15 minutes.

ENGLISH

Castle story – Beginning

Listen to the story ‘Castle Adventure’. Think about the following things while you listen to the story: Who are the main characters in the story? Where does the story take place? What do the characters do? How does the story end?

During the week we are going to have a go at writing our own castle stories but we are going to break it down into three smaller sections: beginning, middle and end.

Today we are going to focus on the beginning of the story and you are going to create a new beginning for your own castle story. Think about and include the following things in your story beginning today

  • language to start a story (eg once upon a time/one beautiful day)
  • where the story is taking place (eg dark, scary castle, big, stone castle)
  • Who is going to be in your story (characters).
  • Who your main characters meet in the story (eg a friendly knight, a shy dragon)

Write at least 3 sentences to begin your story, including the information listed above.

Illustrate the beginning of your story with a picture linked to what happened.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

TOPIC

Chinese New Year – the race

You will need the ‘Chinese New Year story’ powerpoint and the ‘Chinese new year story sequencing’ sheet.

With an adult, read through the story of the Chinese New Year race between all the animals. Listen carefully to what happens to each of the animals in the race? Who comes first? Who comes last?

Use the story sequencing activity sheet. Cut each of the animals out and stick them in the correct order for where they finished the race. Use your completed sequence to retell the story to someone in your family.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.
