# Wednesday

Maths:

You will need the double and half game sheet, a dice, a small object for each person playing

This game is to support children’s quick recall of doubling and halving numbers.  This can also be linked to multiplying by 2 and dividing by 2.  We encourage you to play this game every day this week with your child.  If you have other family members at home maybe they could join in too.

You will need ‘Is it half/quarter?’ sheet, some glue, a pair of scissors and ‘Read and colour a fraction’ sheet.

After a brief introduction your child should be able to complete all the learning tasks independently today. Explain to your child that using what they learnt yesterday they are going to complete a sorting activity.  First, they should cut out the shapes underneath the is it a half grid.  Then sort and stick these shapes.  Next, they should follow the same instructions to sort the shapes under the is it a quarter grid.  Finally, they need to read the fraction and colour the appropriate amount of each shape.

English:

You will need a tablet, computer or phone/iPad your circular story board sheet and the Stickman story middle sheet. You will also need a pencil/colouring pencils.

Today you will be writing the middle section of your story.

Watch the Story middle video.

Before you start writing have a look at your story plan as you will need to use circles 3 and 4 today in your story middle then read your story beginning to remind you where to pick up the middle of your story.

When writing the middle section of your story you will need to think about the main event in the story, so this is where the adventure takes place and where new characters and locations are introduced and included in the story. You will write about the main event and think about how this will lead into the ending of your story.

Remember to use verbs, nouns and adjectives in your writing today. Once you have finished writing don’t forget to illustrate what you have written.

## Writing the middle of the story

You will need the ‘Alternative spelling- oo, ue and u-e sheet and a pencil.

With an adult, work through these alternative spellings for the sound ‘oo’ and then fill in the gaps on the sheet.

Then think of your own words containing these sounds and write at least 5 of the words in sentences.
