Wednesday

Maths:

You will need the ice cream sheet, scissors, a tablet, computer, laptop or phone for today’s work.

Task 1:

Next you need to complete the ice-cream activity.  You will need to cut out all the different parts of the ice-creams first.  Next match two ice-cream toppings to each cone.  You may choose to stick these and then send a photo of your completed work or you could send a photo without sticking the different parts together; you can then keep the separate parts to play a matching game to keep practising telling the time.

Task 2:

You will need to login to your My Maths portal today.  Your lesson is Yr2 telling the time – to 5 minutes.  Work through the lesson with your child talking around any areas they are unsure about.   Then encourage them to complete the online homework independently.

Please send your task 1 to your class email address.

English:

You will need a tablet, computer or phone/iPad. You will also need power point The Great Fire of London Past and Present and the Past and Present questions sheet.

Today we are starting our new topic – The Great Fire of London.

We are going to begin by looking at the past- 1666 and the present – 2021.

It is important for us to know about the past to help us to understand the events that we will be learning about.

Work through the power point presentation asking an adult to help with the reading if you need it. Once you have finished reading please complete the questions sheet using the information that you have read to answer the questions.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

Read Write Inc:

You will need  paper and a pencil.

There are 4 sentences for you to say, hold, write and mark. Our focus today is set 2 and 3 sounds so when you are marking your work please only tick these areas.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

The sentences are:

Today I would like to go to the fair said Mr Smith.

When he got there, he saw a huge ferris wheel.

Mr Smith got on the ride and screamed with delight.

The snail grew a little braver and poked his head out of his shell.

Reading:

Read independently for 20 minutes. This can either be a school book or a chosen book from home. When you have finished, share with an adult what you have read.

Art and Design

You will also need the Wednesday Art and Design sheet, some plain paper, a drawing pencil, and a media to add colour to your art work.

We have chosen 2 pictures taken from the Sun & Moon (two tales from China and Africa) book retold by Barrie Wade and illustrated by Deborah Pook.

We would like you to take inspiration from these pictures. Look at the colours that have been used and how they have portrayed parts of the story.

Choose one of the pictures to recreate. You can use, pencils, pens, paints, pastels or any other media you have available to you.

Don’t forget to use the art and design skills that you have learnt so far this year to add detail and texture to your art.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.
