RWI

Part 1 - Spellings: For today’s activity, we will be looking at the sound ‘aw’ that we started looking at on Monday. Watch the video that talks you through the spellings section of this lesson. Join in with the ‘My turn, your turn’ parts of the video and have a go at spelling each of the words asked of you.

Part 2 – Dictation: Once you have got your list of words, ask an adult to read out the following sentences for you to have a go at writing yourself.

I saw the jaws of a big hawk.

The baby likes to yawn and crawl on the lawn.

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

READING

We would like you to watch a story of your choosing today – there are some available on our website on the ‘Listen to a story’ page (several teachers have recorded stories for you to watch). Or you can find many versions of traditional tales and other stories on youtube.

Once you have finished watching talk to someone at home about the story. Can you tell them what the story was called? Can you tell them the author of the story? Can you tell them at least three things that happened in the story? Can you tell them your favourite part of the story?

ENGLISH

You will need the ‘Adjectives’ powerpoint and the ‘adjectives’ worksheet.

Ask an adult to support you as you go through each slide of the Adjectives powerpoint. Adjectives are describing words. They describe a noun!

We would like you to then complete the adjective worksheet! For each of the objects on the worksheet (teddy, star, dragon, forest) there is a short phrase with the space for an ‘adjective’. We would like you to think of 5 words to describe each object so five different adjectives.

For example

A fluffy teddy bear

A soft teddy bear

A brown teddy bear etc…

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using your class email address.

MATHS

You will need the ‘Toy shop price list’ sheet and the ‘adding money’ worksheet.

Adding money. Today we are going to explore finding the total of 2 objects from the toy shop. We are going to need to use our adding skills to help us find the answers.

For each question, we have asked you to find 2 items from the toy shop and record the price of each one on the worksheet. You will then need to add the two numbers together to find out how much it would cost to buy both of them.

If you finish why not make up some of your own challenges for someone else in your family. Choose 2 items for them to add together!

Ask your adult to send your completed work into school using you class email address.

TOPIC

PE – Rolling

Rolling accuracy challenge!

Make some targets that you can knock down using cones, toys, plastic bottles etc.. Give each target a points total.

Stand back from the targets and roll a ball to try and knock them down. Remember when we roll a ball we need to bend our knees and ensure the ball moves along the floor the whole time (it shouldn’t bounce at all).

Add up your total for 10 rolls.

Challenge: Try moving further away from the targets to make it harder for yourself.
