Statement on the Death of her Majesty the Queen 12th September 2022

Following the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, on Thursday, 8th September 2022, our heartfelt condolences go to her family – as she was a mother, Grandmother and Great grandmother. In a life well served, she has epitomised loyalty, integrity, resilience, service, grace, and dignity even in the most difficult episodes of our history. She was an example to us all and never waivered in the promise she made as a young lady of twenty-one, that she would devote her life to our service. At the age of 96, we can all agree she was a woman of her word. We are grateful for her remarkable service and her constancy that is respected throughout the world.

We know that Her Majesty was a friend of Milton Keynes and recently made it a City. Many of us have seen her and even had the privilege of meeting her. Many of us will mourn her passing but as Her Majesty said, “Grief is the price we pay for love.”

Nationally, there will be a 10 day period of mourning. Businesses and organisations are advised continue to operate in those ten days. The funeral will take place on Monday 19th September 2022, which has been declared a Bank Holiday, by our newly proclaimed Monarch, King Charles III. All 3 of our schools will be closed on that day.

We wish the new King and the Queen Consort Godspeed and a long and prosperous reign.

We would like to end with this quote from a 14-year-old Princess Elizabeth, from her broadcast to the children of the Commonwealth in October 1940: “And when peace comes, remember it will be for us, the children of today, to make the world of tomorrow a better and happier place”.

  • Change of term dates

    Wed 09 Dec 2020

    9th December 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers

As we approach the end of an unprecedented year, I would like to thank you for your ongoing support. I also wish to commend the children for the manner in which they have adapted to the new arrangements and procedures brought about because of Coronavirus. They have been a real credit to yourselves and the school.

You may have been made aware through last night’s news programmes, that the Department for Education are allowing schools to close 1 day early on Thursday 17th December 2020 in order for schools to have an additional inset day. The main reason for the Department for Education allowing this is to enable school staff to be free from engaging with Test and Trace from 23rd December and during the Christmas break. I know that this will not affect the children who are currently having to self-isolate in Early Years and Year 2, but feel it is important that all parents and carers have this information.

This change will mean that we will need to re-arrange some of our usual end of term activities which, we will strive to do, so the children can have a pleasant end to the term.

I hope that you and your family will be able to have a pleasant and safe Christmas and we look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 5th January 2021.

    Yours sincerely

    Dr Diane Elleman

    Executive Headteacher

  • A colourful rainbow

    Mon 04 May 2020

At Priory Common, we created a rainbow out of many different items from around the school.

We have hidden our 4 house frogs in the rainbow somewhere, can you spot them?

  • A message from Dr Elleman

    Thu 26 Mar 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers

Currently Priory Common is closed and the provision for the vulnerable children and the children of key workers is being kept under review. During this time, staff will continue to make welfare calls either on a daily or weekly basis to ensure you and your child has everything they need to continue their education. On a regular basis, we will also be uploading work and encouraging you to send us completed work to assess.

If you are having difficulty accessing this information, please drop us an email so that we can, if necessary, make alternative arrangements.

Our children who are eligible for free school meals should now have been contacted. If this is not the case, please contact us via email or mention it when a member of staff makes the welfare call.

Today we have uploaded some links which may be of use to the children and families who may be experiencing difficulties. I would encourage you to use these links, as well as discussing any difficulties with the staff during the welfare call.

These are extraordinary times for us all and changes are being made on a daily basis. If you need to, please use the support we are offering.

    Keep safe.

    Regards

    Diane Elleman

    Executive Headteacher
